Understanding Team Accounts in SureMembers
A normal membership gives access to one person. Team Accounts change that by letting one person, the team owner, buy a membership once and share it with a group of people. Everyone on the team gets the same access, the owner manages who joins and who leaves, and you, the site admin, keep full oversight from the dashboard.
This is a premium feature, available in the Pro and Business plans of SureMembers.
Common Use Cases
Team Accounts work well anywhere one person or budget needs to cover a group:
- A company buys one Pro Training plan and adds its 20 employees.
- A school purchases a course bundle and enrolls a class of students.
- An agency pays for one plan and shares it across the team.
Key Terms
| Term | Description |
|---|---|
| Owner | The buyer. Manages the team and does not use up a member seat. |
| Member | Anyone the owner adds. Each member uses one seat. |
| Seats | The number of members allowed on a team. You set this per membership. Example: a team with 10 seats means 1 owner plus up to 10 members. |
| Invite Link | A shareable link that lets people join the team themselves. |
How It Works
You (the admin)
- Enable Team Accounts on a membership and set how many seats each team gets.
- Oversee every team from the admin Team Accounts tab.
The team owner
- Buys the membership and automatically becomes the owner.
- Manages the team from a front-end Team Dashboard, where they can add members manually, import a list from a spreadsheet, or share an invite link.
The team member
- Joins through an invite link, or gets added directly by the owner.
- Gets the same access as everyone else on the team, right away.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the owner take up a seat? No. If you set 10 seats, that means 10 members can be added. The owner does not use a seat, so the total team size can reach 1 owner plus up to 10 members, for a total of 11 people.
Can a member be on more than one team? Each person joins as a member of the team that added them. Owners, however, can manage multiple teams if they own multiple team memberships. A team switcher appears for owners managing more than one team.
