Is it possible to create a yearly membership site using SureCart and SureMembers? The answer is absolutely YES! In this document, we will explain how exactly you can do so. Let’s get started.
Step 1: Installation and Activation
To start with, you will need to install SureCart and SureMember plugins to your WordPress site and activate both of them.
Please note, SureCart has a free version you can download from the WordPress repository. For SureMembers, it is a premium plugin you can purchase a license and activate the license by following the article [SureMembers Getting Started Guide].
Step 2: Creating an access group in SureMembers
Once both the plugins are installed and activated, please create an access group and restrict your content. Here is an article that will help you to create an access group.
Step 3: Creating a product in SureCart
Once you have created an access group, please navigate to SureCart > Products and click on add new button to create a new product.
In the next step, provide a name for the product and click on create.
This will open the edit product page. Please click on the “Add a Price” button to add the price for this product.
On the pop-up page, you will need to enter the following information:
- Payment Type: There are three available options to choose from such as one-time, installment, and subscription. Since we are trying to build a yearly subscription-based platform, you will need to select subscription as the payment type.
- Price: You will need to enter the amount for each subscription in this box.
- Repeat payment every: This field lets you choose when the user needs to pay again to continue the subscription. In this case, we will select the payment to repeat every year.
- Compare at price: If your subscription is currently on sale, you will need to enter the original price here or you can also leave this blank if that is not the case.
- Allow customers to pay what they want: As the field name suggests if you enable this option, the customer will be able to pay any amount of their choice.
- Free Trial days: This is a premium feature of the SureCart plugin. If you have already subscribed to the premium version of the plugin, you can enter the number of days that you would like to provide free trial access to your customers.
Click on the create price button to complete the process.
Now that the product is created, we will need to connect this product to our SureMembers access group that we had created earlier. To do this, please click on the “Add New Integration” button.
On the pop-up page, click on the drop-down and select SureMember from the list.
You will need to select the access group next from the drop-down list. Please note that if you have already created an access group using the SureMembers plugin, it will automatically be available in the list.
Click on the “Add Integration” button to complete the process.
In the final step, choose the purchase limit per customer and click on the save product button in the top right corner to save the changes.
That’s all. Your yearly subscription is now ready for being sold to your customers.
Would I be able to do this with SureMembers and WooCommerce?
Subscriptions are not available by default in WooCommerce. In order to do this, you will need to install WooCommerce Subscriptions, which costs around $199 per year, or another similar plugin from the market.
While SureCart does not require any additional plugins, it comes with almost all features and options.
Using WooCommerce, create a product, and from the product settings, locate Add Access Groups on the right side, and select the Membership you created earlier with SureMembers.
