Restrict Access to Your Entire Website

Restricting your entire website means only logged-in members can see any page on your site. This is useful if you are building a fully private community, a paid content hub, or a members-only portal where nothing should be visible to the public.

Before You Begin

You should have at least one Membership created, or be ready to create one during this process.

Make sure you have SureMembers installed and activated on your WordPress site.

This feature is available with SureMembers Core (free). You do not need SureMembers Pro to restrict access to your entire website.

  1. Go to SureMembers > Memberships from your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Click Add New to create a new Membership, or open an existing one.

  1. Navigate to the Protection Content section inside the Membership.
  2. Choose Entire Website from the list of options.

  1. Add an exclusion for your homepage. This makes sure visitors can still land on your site before logging in.

  1. Go to the Unauthorized Access section of the same Membership.
  2. Set the action to Redirect and enter the URL of your login page.

Note: If your homepage is also protected, users will have no way to reach the login page, and they will be locked out completely.

  1. Click Save to apply the changes.

What You’ll See

Once saved, any visitor who is not logged in will be redirected to your login page when they try to visit any page on your site. Only users who have access to this Membership will be able to browse freely.

You have now locked down your entire website to members only. It is a good idea to also check that your login page and any other pages you want to keep public are added to the exclusions list.
