Restrict a Particular Content on a Page

With SureMembers, you can hide just one section of a page without locking down the whole thing. This is perfect when you want to show a teaser to everyone but keep the good stuff, like a video, a download, or a premium block, visible only to paying members. You can do this inside the Gutenberg editor or Elementor, whichever you use.

Before You Begin

  • Make sure SureMembers Pro is installed and active. Block-level restrictions are a Pro feature.
  • You should have at least one Membership set up before following these steps.
  • This works with both the Gutenberg block editor and Elementor.

Method 1: Restricting a Block in Gutenberg

Use this method if you are building your page with the default WordPress block editor.

  1. Open the page or post you want to edit in the block editor.
  1. Select the block you want to restrict. This can be any block such as a paragraph, image, video, button, or group.
  1. Go to the Block settings panel on the right side and scroll down to find Restrict this Block.
  2. Select the Membership you want to grant access to from the list.

  1. Click Save or Update to apply the changes.

The block will now only be visible to users who are part of the selected Membership. Everyone else will not see it at all.

Showing a Teaser or Purchase Button to Non-Members

If you want non-members to see a call-to-action or a purchase button instead of the restricted content, you can add a second block with that content and reverse the condition.

  1. Add a new block containing your teaser text or purchase button.
  2. Select the block and go to Restrict this Block in the Block settings panel.
  3. Set the Show block when user option to Is Not In.
  4. Select the same Membership you used above.
  5. Click Save or Update.

Non-members will now see the teaser or purchase button. Members will see the actual content.

Method 2: Restricting a Section in Elementor

Use this method if you are building your page with Elementor.

  1. Open the page in Elementor.
  2. Click on the column or section you want to restrict to open its settings.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab in the column or section settings.
  4. Scroll down to find the SureMembers restriction options.

  1. Select the Membership you want to apply.
  2. Click Update to save the page.

Just like in Gutenberg, you can add a second column or section with a teaser or purchase button and set it to show only when the user is not in that Membership.

What You’ll See

Once saved, members who belong to the selected Membership will see the restricted block or section normally. Everyone else will either see nothing in that spot or see the teaser content you set up, depending on how you configured it.

You can use this method on any page to create a mix of free and members-only content. It gives you a lot of flexibility without having to lock down entire pages.
