Manually Add or Remove Users to Access Groups

SureMembers lets you control who can see your content using Access Groups. Sometimes, you may need to add or remove a user from a group yourself.

Why is manually adding or removing users useful

Sometimes, you may want to give or remove access right away. For example, when a member upgrades their plan, you may want to give them instant access without waiting for automation to run.

You can do this in two ways:

  1. Bulk add or remove users from the Users page in WordPress.
  2. Edit a single user’s profile and change their access.

1. Bulk Add or Remove Users

If you want to update multiple users at once, this method is the fastest.

  1. Go to Users in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Select the checkboxes next to the users you want to edit.
  3. From the Bulk Actions dropdown, choose Edit and click Apply.
  4. In the bulk edit screen, find the Access Groups option.
  5. Select the group you want to grant or remove access from.
  6. Click Update Users.

Your changes will be applied to all selected users at once.

2. Add or Remove Access for a Single User

This method is best if you only need to change one user’s access.

  1. Go to Users in your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Click on the name of the user you want to edit.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of their profile page.
  4. You will see the Access Group name and details for this user.
  5. To remove access, click Remove Access on the right side.
  6. To give access, click Grant Access..

That’s it. The user’s access will update right away.

Tips

  • Use bulk editing for large groups of users.
  • Use the single-user method for quick, one-off changes.
  • Always double-check the Access Group before saving.

You can manually manage Access Groups in two ways, by editing in bulk or by updating a single user. Bulk editing saves time for large updates, while the single-user method is best for quick, individual changes.

Always confirm the group before saving to make sure the right people have the right access.
