How to Set Up Access Groups with Drip Content

With SureMembers, you can use Drip Content to unlock posts, lessons, or other content on a schedule instead of all at once.

Why Use Drip Content

  • Unlock content on a schedule: Share content weekly, monthly, or at any pace you choose instead of giving everything up front.
  • Structure courses in order: Keep learners on track by unlocking lessons or modules step by step.
  • Keep members engaged: New content at regular intervals gives members a reason to return.
  • Add value by pacing access: Prevent members from rushing through everything, making your program feel more valuable over time.

How Drip Content Works

  • Drip is connected to the Access Group, not to each user.
  • If you create an access group on September 1 and set content to drip every 7 days, the first piece unlocks on September 8.
  • A user who joins later will see everything that has already unlocked since September 1.
  • This works like a shared group schedule. A rolling drip (where each user follows their own timeline) is planned for a future update.

Step 1: Create an Access Group

Make sure you already have an Access Group created. Follow this guide if you need help: How to Create Access Groups

Step 2: Add Drip Content

  1. In the Access Group editor, go to the Drip Content section.
  2. Click + Add Drip Content.
  3. Search for the content you want and select it.
  4. Choose a Date Type:
    • After Duration
      • Enter the number of days under After Days.
      • Example: 7 = unlock one week after the group was created.
      • For weekly content, add 7, 14, 21, 28, and so on.
    • Specific Date
      • Pick a calendar date under Specific Date.
      • All users in the group will see the content on that date.

Adding Additional Drip Content

What Members See

  • Members only see content that is unlocked.
  • Future content stays hidden until its drip date.
  • Users are never shown locked posts ahead of time.

Example: Weekly Drip

  • Add 52 posts for a year-long membership.
  • In Drip Content, add each post.
  • Set delays to 7, 14, 21, 28, etc., so a new post unlocks each week.
  • All members follow the same schedule no matter when they join. Drip content is linked to when the access group was created, so every member follows the same release schedule.

Best Practices

  • Plan your schedule in advance: Decide the order and pace before adding drip rules. This makes setup easier and ensures a smooth flow for members.
  • Use clear post titles: Good titles make it easier to search and select the right content when adding it to the drip list.
  • Keep timing consistent: Weekly or monthly releases help members know what to expect and build anticipation.
  • Update as you go: If you create new posts later, you can edit the access group anytime and add them to the drip schedule.
