Using the Centralized Rules System in SureMembers
SureMembers includes a Centralized Rules System that makes it easy to see which content on your site is protected and which is not. Instead of digging through settings, you can instantly check content protection right from the editor or the front end of your site.

Why This Matters
As your site grows, it becomes harder to track what content is restricted and who has access. With the Centralized Rules System, you can:
- Instantly see whether a page or post is protected.
- Check which access groups apply to the content.
- Add or remove protection directly from the editor or front end.
How to See if Content is Protected
When you open a post or page in the block editor, you’ll see the SureMembers logo in the top left corner:
- If the icon is purple, the content is protected.
- If the icon is black, the content is not protected.

Not Protected:
Clicking the logo shows you which Access Groups are protecting the content. You can also open the Access Groups directly from here.
Protecting Content on the Fly
You don’t need to leave the page or post to add protection.
- Click the SureMembers logo in the editor or admin bar.
- Choose an Access Group (for example, VIP Members).
- Add your post to the Access Group.
- Save your changes.
- The logo instantly updates to purple, showing that the content is now protected.
Viewing Protection on the Front End
The SureMembers logo also appears in the WordPress admin bar on the front end.
- If the logo is purple, the page is protected.
- If it’s black, the page is public.
Turning the Icon On or Off
If you don’t want the icon in the block editor:
- Go to SureMembers → Settings.
- Find the option Display SureMembers icon in the block editor.
- Toggle it off and click Save Settings.
Most users prefer to keep it on, since it makes managing protection much faster and clearer.
Why This Feature Helps
The Centralized Rules System makes it obvious which content is protected and which is not, without having to remember where to look in the settings. You can also manage protection instantly while working on a page or post, making your membership site easier to run and scale.
