How to Integrate with WooCommerce For Paid Memberships
You can connect WooCommerce with SureMembers to automatically add customers to access groups after they purchase a product. This is perfect if you’re already using WooCommerce and want to sell memberships, protected content, or gated downloads using your existing store setup.
Why Use WooCommerce?
WooCommerce is a widely used eCommerce plugin for WordPress that supports:
- Physical and digital product sales
- Subscriptions (with an add-on)
- Flexible checkout and payment options
- Integration with shipping, taxes, and third-party tools
If you’re already using WooCommerce, integrating it with SureMembers lets you turn your products into access-controlled memberships without switching platforms. But if you’re starting fresh or want a simpler setup built specifically for memberships, SureCart might be worth considering too.

How to Connect WooCommerce with SureMembers
1. Create Your WooCommerce Products
Set up your product like normal in Products → Add New.
Need help? Follow the official guide: How to Create WooCommerce Products
You can create one-time products, digital files, or subscriptions (if using WooCommerce Subscriptions).
2. Make Sure Access Groups Are Set Up
You’ll need at least one access group created in SureMembers before linking it to your product.
Follow this guide: How to Create an Access Group
3. Link the Access Group to the Product
While editing your WooCommerce product, look for the SureMembers panel in the Product sidebar (usually on the right side of the screen or below the product editor).
- Toggle “Enable SureMembers Integration”
- Choose the Access Group you want to assign to customers who buy this product
That’s it. After purchase, the customer will be automatically added to the selected group.
4. Finish the WooCommerce Setup
Complete the rest of the product settings as usual: pricing, product type, downloads, shipping, stock, etc.
When someone completes a purchase, SureMembers handles access in the background.
Example Use Cases
Sell a One-Time Course Access Pass
- Create a digital product in WooCommerce
- Link it to a SureMembers access group that protects course content
- After purchase, users are added to the group and gain access immediately
Offer Premium Downloads
- Sell downloadable files (eBooks, toolkits, templates)
- Protect the download page with SureMembers
- Only buyers in the linked access group can view the page
Run a Membership Site with WooCommerce Subscriptions
- Create a subscription product
- Link it to an access group that includes drip content
- Use SureMembers to unlock content on a schedule as long as the subscription is active
You’re All Set
Once your product is linked, SureMembers will handle access automatically. This setup works great if you’re already using WooCommerce and want to start protecting content without changing your workflow.
You can always edit the product or access group later if your setup changes. For more advanced use cases, explore automations, role sync, or other integrations.
